Under the proposed law, the customs policy will be changed and calculated using a proportional rate from the price of imports for all products, according to the effective customs as of the date of publication of the law in Reshumot.
Thereafter, tariffs will be gradually reduced by 10% each year until the customs rate for each customs item is at most 8%.
For comparison, a report by the Ministry of Finance stated that the tariff rate on agricultural products in Israel could rise to hundreds of percent.
