The new crown pneumonia epidemic has been repeated, but some people in the community still keep their posts silently, and even "make up woks" everywhere to provide warmth to those in need.

Sham Shui Po Ming Ge (Chen Zhuoming) has started to distribute meals for free since 2008. It has been 12 years before he knew it. Not only is he famous in Hong Kong, he is also recognized by local Chinese even when he goes to Australia.

In the face of an unprecedented epidemic, the store business has also declined, but he insisted not to lay off staff or reduce salaries.

"Because of my soft heart, I can't make money all the time." But he looked at it lightly. From the loneliness to knowing the streets, "To figure out how to give up wealth, power, hatred... In Sham Shui Po District, all people are friends. We have no enemies."

Serving as a community "repair pan" to distribute food and supplies under the epidemic

Ming brother has been distributing food to the grassroots since 2008. However, since 3 years ago, the number of "meal tickets" received has increased and the team has no plans to stop. Everywhere they "make up for money"

,

thinking about how to distribute the "meal tickets", it falls into the hands of those in need. "We started to study the loopholes in Sham Shui Po in this district." Later, they found that it takes time to approve CSSA. It takes one month, or two or three months, so he took the initiative to contact the Social Welfare Department: "You can refer you to me, and you will have CSSA."

After gaining experience, he is currently cooperating with more than a dozen organizations including the Charity Guidance Association, the Rehabilitation Association, and the Hong Kong community organizations. District councillors also refer cases from time to time to "fill the loopholes in returning to our region. This action is called a remedial operation." .

This year, when the epidemic hit, he continued to serve as a community "repairing wok", distributing epidemic prevention materials to the grassroots level. So far, more than 500,000 masks have been distributed.

Looking back on the sudden fame, I faced it with a normal heart: To find a way to let go of power

during the visit, Ming Ge also shared an interesting incident. In 2017, the restaurant was accused of failing to store food properly and was fined for 14 days.

Unable to open a store, he and a group of employees took the "holiday" to travel. Unexpectedly, when strolling around in Sydney's Chinatown, they were also recognized by the local Chinese. The other party knew more about the suspension, which made him dumbfounded.

He also pointed out that he was recognized even outside the Sydney Opera House. His charity service has now rushed out of Hong Kong, with donors from 16 countries.

From an unknown chef to the well-known "Sham Shui Po Ming Brother", will he become unaccustomed to his sudden fame?

But he faced it with a normal heart, "To figure out how to give up wealth, power, hatred... In Sham Shui Po, all people are friends, and we have no enemies."

Under the epidemic, his business has been greatly reduced, but he insisted not to lay off employees or reduce wages.

Epidemic affects business to reduce Yau Ma Tei store's transfer to partners

It has been 12 years since my business fell into the bottom of my business to help people with food. "It was because of my soft heart that I kept making money."

Early in the morning, I took a car from my home in Tin Shui Wai to Sham Shui Po to open a shop. I worked for more than 10 hours a day. Sometimes I finished work too late. I had to rest in the attic of the shop. I went to bed and started working again.

Because of the epidemic, restaurant business has also been greatly affected. The most severe monthly decline is by one-third, and now it is down by an average of one-fifth. "You can maintain the decline." There is no need to take unpaid leave between employees and no layoffs.

However, the Yau Ma Tei branch that opened last year suffered a serious loss. In September of this year, I decided to leave the store. "There is no way. If we want to continue to eclipse, it is not our philosophy." Fortunately, the old folks remembered their hands and continued to help others.

From loneliness and obscurity to knowing the streets, Ming Ge said to face it with a normal heart, "We must figure out how to give up wealth, power, and hatred." (Photo by Zheng Zifeng)
