Guo Yonghong returned to Hong Kong by plane from Phuket in July 2016, and was immediately arrested by agents of the Police Organized Crime and Triad Investigation Bureau who were ambushing at the airport.

At that time, he was arrested on suspicion of "conspiracy to blackmail", "conspiracy to commit criminal intimidation" and "conspiracy to injure others." He was first escorted to the airport police station and then transferred to the Wan Chai Police Headquarters at night, where he was detained for 48 hours. Be allowed to leave on bail.

As of November 2017, he was arrested by the police again, suspected of laundering money through 4 local bank accounts from January 2007 to July 2012, involving an amount of more than HK$100 million.

He was detained for 29 hours and was released on bail pending investigation, during which time he was not allowed to leave Hong Kong.

However, he abandoned his bail and absconded in April 2018 and was wanted by the police.
