The General Electricity Company of Hama Governorate carried out works of replacing and increasing the capacity of 247 electrical transformers in several areas of the governorate since the beginning of this year.
The general manager of the company, Eng. Ahmed Walid Al-Youssef, stated to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the aim of replacing the transformers is to reduce the pressure resulting from the increased consumption of electrical energy, explaining that the work included replacing 103 electrical transformers instead of damaged ones due to the increased consumption and increasing the capacity of 100 other transformers and adding 44 new transformers to centers. He pointed out that the company continues a campaign to suppress violations of the illegal use of electric power in the various regions of the governorate because of its negative effects on the citizen and the electrical system, with the aim of reducing the electrical loss and maintaining the reliability of the electric current, revealing that 1157 violations of the illegal use of electrical energy were regulated in the regions of Hama, Masyaf and Al-Ghab. Salamiyah, Mahrada, Suqaylabiyah and its countryside, with an illegally leased energy amount estimated at 4553354 kilowatt hours.
