(CNN Spanish) -
Former Bolivian president Evo Morales had to leave a congress of the Movement to Socialism (MAS) on Monday after violent incidents occurred with alleged supporters of that party.
As seen in a video circulating on social networks, the former president withdrew from the guarded event after some attendees began to throw chairs and other objects amid boos and shouts of "out" and "renewal."
The incident occurred in Lauca Ñ, Cochabamba, when Morales, president of the government party, participated together with other representatives of a congress to define candidates for the 2021 sub-national elections. According to Red Uno, a CNN affiliate, there is some "discontent" in sectors of his political grouping.

Morales said on his Twitter account that what happened was the product of "infiltrators," sent by "the right-wing coup," who seek to generate violence.
Also on her Twitter account, the former interim president Jeanine Áñez stated: “The« finger »is tiresome, Mr. Morales, the days of the imposture that you applied in your party are over.
May it also serve as a reflection for others, the grassroots rebel and that is good ”.
For his part, the former president and strong opponent of Evo Morales, Jorge Quiroga, considered on Twitter that the former president was "repudiated by his militants" of the MAS.
Morales returned to Bolivia on November 9, after spending almost a year in exile in Argentina.
The former president ruled the country for almost 14 years and on November 11, 2019, amid protests, accusations of electoral fraud and at the request of the Armed Forces, he agreed to resign and left the country.
Morales has always denied having incurred any fraud and denounced having been the victim of a coup.
The Andean country will hold elections for departmental and regional authorities and mayors on March 7, 2021.
