Afghan authorities announced today that armed men launched a missile attack on the US military base of Bagram in Parwan province, north of the country.
"Five rockets were fired from a car parked in the Kalandar Khel area and hit Bagram base, while the launch of another seven missiles, which were subsequently disabled by the Afghan forces, failed," Xinhua news agency quoted Wahida Shahkar, a spokeswoman for the Afghan government in Parwan, as saying in a special statement.
Shahkar did not give any details of deaths or injuries in the attack, while it was not clear until now the extent of the damage caused by it.
The Bagram base is about 50 km from the Afghan capital, Kabul, and it is the main and largest military base for the United States and NATO, "NATO" in Afghanistan over the past 19 years.
