The Syrian Telecom Company branch in Aleppo Governorate is working to improve the service reality that has been sabotaged by terrorism by rehabilitating the communications infrastructure in the countryside and in the city through a group of vital projects that contribute to the return of the communications network and the Internet.

Engineer Anwar Rahwan, the director of the company’s branch, said in a statement to SANA that the company is currently working through 24 telephone centers, 14 optical access units, and 3 wireless stations with a capacity of 454306 subscribers, of which about 281,500 subscribers, indicating that the number of invested internet portals is estimated at 168,000 gates.

Rahwan pointed to the most important achievements of the company during the four years since the liberation of the city of Aleppo from the abomination of terrorism and until now, as in 2016 an optical cable was re-extended between the cities of Aleppo and Salamiyah through the town of Khanasser to restore external communications and the Internet as it was before the terrorist war, at a total cost of 991 million at that time. In addition to putting the Tel Hasel phone center in Aleppo countryside into service at a cost of 6 million Syrian pounds, and installing 4 optical access units in Neirab camp and one in Aleppo International Airport at a cost of 31 million pounds.

According to Rahwan, a partial rehabilitation project for the Al-Ansari phone center was completed in 2017, which was fully opened in 2018, and a project for the rehabilitation of the eastern countryside centers was implemented through the maintenance of 8 telephone centers and 4 external optical access units, worth one billion and 200 million Syrian pounds for the two projects. Likewise, in 2018, several telephone centers in the eastern countryside were put into service, namely the Quiris, Maskanah and Debsi Afnan telephone center. In 2019, the rest of the eastern countryside centers were put into service, namely Deir Hafer and Abu Jabbar, and the telephone center of the town of Hamima and al-Mamoura. However, the most important achievement in 2019 was the installation A wireless station in Debsi Afnan Center for the micro-connection with Raqqa Governorate.

Regarding the most important achievements implemented in the current year, Rahwan pointed out that the Khan al-Wazir phone service center has been put into service with a capacity of 20,000 subscribers and 256 internet gates, in addition to the Sanaa Muhaidli phone center with a capacity of 20,000 subscribers and 1,024 gates, as well as the launch of home internet service via fiber The traffic light to secure the highest speed to serve subscribers in several areas of the city of Aleppo, namely Al-Furqan, Al-Shahba and Al-Shahba Al-Jadida.

According to Rahwan, the company’s branch is working on expanding its achievements and rehabilitating phone centers in the regions and neighborhoods to which the people have returned, such as Salah al-Din, Al-Ashrafiya and Sheikh Maqsoud. Work is also underway to implement government projects that were approved in the cabinet session held in Aleppo on 2/22. -2020, at a cost of 2,750 billion Syrian Pounds, to restore telecommunications services to the centers that have been damaged by terrorism, namely Al-Zorba, Tal Hadya, Khan Al-Asal, Hayan, Anan, Kafr Hamra, Kafr Dael, Al-Hader, Abtin, Al-Wadhi, and Tal Shoghaib, where about 70 percent of them have been completed so far, and other vital projects are currently being implemented. It contributes to the return of internet and communication services to the city of Aleppo and its countryside, which is the Hayyan town project and the Zorba phone center in the countryside of Aleppo, in addition to building the Hajj Bridge telephone center in the city.

SANA's camera visited one of the vital projects in Hayyan town and looked at the rehabilitation work and completion rates, as Eng. Samir Ghafeer, head of the implementation department in the company’s branch, indicated that work is currently underway to rehabilitate the main and sub-network, where about 21 million and 845 thousand Syrian pounds were allocated to complete the project within 40 days The achievement rate has reached nearly 30 percent so far.

Engineer Muhammad Rashid, the supervisor of the network rehabilitation project in Hayyan, indicated that the project is divided into 4 telephone distribution groups to fully serve the town, pointing to the national hands that contribute to the rehabilitation of these networks to encourage the return of the people to their homes.
