The Immigration Department has arranged for comprehensive cleaning and disinfection of relevant detention facilities. All detainees and immigration personnel in the centre will be tested for the virus as soon as possible and all visits will be suspended immediately until further notice.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all detainees who have newly entered the center are now required to undergo a COVID-19 test.
On Christmas Day (25th), three Vietnamese who entered the country illegally were sent to the center to be detained for repatriation and were arranged to be quarantined and to take deep throat saliva samples for virus testing.
One of the detained Vietnamese nationals was diagnosed with COVID-19 disease yesterday (26th) night and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
The test results of the two detainees who were quarantined in the same detention room as the confirmed case were negative, but they were also arranged to be sent to the quarantine center for acceptance because they were listed as close contacts of the confirmed case by the Center for Health Protection. While waiting for the test results, the three persons did not come into contact with other detainees in the centre or any members of the public, and the relevant immigration officers were wearing suitable personal protective equipment.
