Luohu Correctional Institution announced late on Saturday (26th) that a female correctional officer was initially diagnosed with the new crown virus.

The correctional officer was on leave from December 13 to 22 and was tested for the virus on the first day of work (23) after the leave.

She was notified by the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health of the initial diagnosis during the shift this evening.

She has no recent travel history, wears a surgical mask at work, and maintains proper social distancing with people she contacts.

She has been performing temperature detection during work, and her temperature is normal without any symptoms of discomfort.

The Correctional Services Department stated that it has contacted the Centre for Health Protection and followed up its recommendations, including arranging all staff and persons in custody in the institution to undergo virus testing, and to thoroughly clean and disinfect the relevant areas.

The Correctional Services Department stated that it is highly concerned about the situation of COVID-19.
