On the eve of entering the third closure, the Employment Service publishes this morning (Sunday) its forecast regarding the employment implications that the labor market is expected to face in the face of the closure.

Netanyahu: Within a month, we will be the first in the world to emerge from the plague

According to the employment service researchers, the number of new job seekers who will be registered during the third closure is expected to be significantly lower than the number of applicants during the second closure.

While during the month of the Tishrei holiday closure, 291,352,000 people registered as job seekers, the employment service estimates that the range enrolled in the third closure will range between 90-120 thousand job seekers.

The employment service notes that the forecast is based on the assumption that the closure will last a month, as officials at the Ministry of Health estimated over the weekend.

However, the service emphasizes that the longer the closure, the more the number of registrants as new job seekers is expected to increase during it.

According to the Employment Service, even in the third closure, the occupations that are more likely to be harmed are sales and services;

Agents, practical engineers and technicians;

The academics;

And clerks and office workers.

As for professions, the professions that are most likely to be harmed are in-store sales assistants, secretarial workers and security guards.

Dr. Gal Zohar, director of the research and policy unit at the Employment Service, explains the forecast and attributes the gap to the second closure by a number of factors. The education system is expected to operate in full format in about half of the age groups, so that as long as there is indeed a violation, it will be done mainly by teaching supporters.

Finally, Dr. Zohar explains the difference in that between closures and labor market closures he learned to conduct himself in the shadow of the corona, for example in remote work, so that unlike previous closures in the third closure more employers are likely not to take their workers out.

However, in light of the trend of returning to work after the second closure in the employment service, there are concerns that workers who leave the IDF during the third closure will find it difficult to integrate immediately during the closure. for work.
