The struggle for deer feeding in Kreuth / West continues.

The animal welfare association stands up for the feeding station - and speaks of a disregard for the creature.

Kreuth

- Winter is here.

Johanna Ecker-Schotte, chairwoman of the Tegernseer Tal animal welfare association, would have loved to announce good news to the members about red deer feeding in the west of Kreuther in her Christmas letter.

But Ecker-Schotte has not reported any success in this matter.

That is why the “Christmas greetings from the animal shelter”, distributed as a printed brochure, are not very peaceful.

The refusal of winter feeding in the mountaineering village of Kreuth West is a slap in the face of everyone who has contributed to the feeding concept, Ecker-Schotte rages in his Christmas greeting: "Here, in a shameful way, there is no respect for the creature."

Hunting chief sees no need

The animal rights activist has the Kreuther hunting supervisor Werner Winkler in her sights, who still sees no need for feeding west of the main road.

As reported, Ecker-Schotter managed to find a location.

Landowner Leonhard Rohnbogner is ready to make his alpine pasture in Scharling available for red deer feeding in winter.

He would also have no objection to a show feeding.

Where cows graze in summer, deer could find food and a sheltered place in the snow and ice.

A barn is available.

"The location is ideal," says Wolfgang Kuhn.

He is the head of the large game conservation community and has been a hunting advisor for the Miesbach district since November.

The Lower Hunting Authority at the District Office also approved the establishment of the feeding station in the west months ago.

The implementation would be the task of the local hunting association.

But their head, Werner Winkler, waved them off after many conversations in late summer.

An expert opinion is available

Ecker-Schotte does not want to accept that.

“We'll stay tuned,” she says.

According to Kuhn, it is now clear that the feeding concept for the district, which is still in progress, recommends setting up a feeding system on Rohnbogners Alm.

There are currently five feeding stations east of the main road, but none in the west, explains Kuhn: "We have a blank spot there." An expert opinion has recently been published.

The specialist office for forest & hunting consulting Michael Regehr from Brannenburg consider feeding in the west to be indicated.

The analysis was initiated by the animal welfare association.

Game is cared for in times of need

Hunting chief Winkler prefers to rely on his experience.

“Some just do business simulations at their desks,” he says of the concepts and reports.

No game has starved to death in his area.

To the east of the main road, the hunting association operates a feeding station, and to the west is the Bauer in der Au game feeding facility in Bad Wiessee.

"It's a stone's throw for game," says Winkler.

There is no need for an additional offer.

Especially since the hunters in times of need, such as in the disaster winter 2018/2019, provided the game in their territories with food anyway.

And this where it is right now: "We prefer to be flexible there."

Ecker-Schotte hopes to be able to convince the hunting association.

In her opinion, there is a lot going on in terms of wildlife protection.

Christmas greeting isn't just about feeding.

There it also says: “Enormous disruptions such as the completely excessive hunting pressure, implementation of hunts that are more than critically questioned, hunting times that are too long, disregard for animal welfare as well as the right of people to enjoy their leisure time around the clock put our home Wild animals are now very closed. ”In the Tegernsee valley alone, 1,000 wild animals are shot every year.
