Thursday (31st) New Year's Eve is also the 16th month of the August 31 incident at Prince Edward Station last year. At the end of each month, citizens have initiated commemorative activities to lay flowers outside Exit B1 of Prince Edward Station.
However, as of last month, a district councillor said that after receiving news that the police would drive away those who came to offer and collect flowers on the 30th of last month, the police also set up a cordon outside Prince Edward Station that night to warn citizens not to gather.
A large number of police officers pulled up a cordon outside Prince Edward Station tonight, and Kai Mi urged members of the public not to gather at the scene, otherwise they might violate the gathering restriction order.
Citizens holding white flowers passed by the scene from time to time, including those holding bouquets, which were intercepted by police officers.
Grandma Huang, who often attends demonstrations, also attended the scene and raised the "Save 12" light board.
District Councillor Lin Zhaobin also received flowers from citizens outside the office tonight.
The police said that from about 5 o'clock in the evening on Thursday (31st), people gathered in Mong Kok near MTR Prince Edward Station. The police issued warnings to the assembled people, but some people still refused to follow the police’s instructions to leave and continued to commit suspected illegal acts. Enforcement action was taken.
During the operation, the police issued fixed penalty notices to 1 man and 2 women, aged between 20 and 69, who violated the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Group Gathering) Regulations (Chapter 599G).
Granny Huang, who often attends demonstrations, also showed up.
