In the interview, Hans Kögelsperger, chairman of the Kinschdarfer Maschkera, talks about the problems of a carnival club in the Corona year.
Königsdorf
- The corona virus is undoubtedly the greatest brake on fun in the past decades.
Ski holidays are canceled, and we spent most of Advent, Christmas and New Year's Eve in isolation.
And the carnival fans go up the fool's cap string, think about what the pandemic has made of their preferred season.
Hans Köglsperger is the boss of the Kinschdarfer Maschkera with its 300 members.
The carnival association wanted to set up its traditional wagon train through the town in February.
But the pandemic has stopped the Königsdorf carnivalists.
Editor Peter Borchers spoke to the 38-year-old.
Mr. Köglsperger, how is the Königsdorfer Obernarren?
Kögelsperger
: Thanks for asking, I'm personally fine in
terms of
health.
And as for the Maschkera: the last major event with the carnival on the main street was carried out well with the club at the end of February.
We cannot complain.
That concerns the past. But an association also lives from meeting, sitting together, having fun together - things that have not been possible or only to a limited extent for months.
Kögelsperger:
Of course the situation is not easy.
A move would not be possible, we would not be able to adhere to the requirements regarding the minimum distances.
We actually wanted to publish a carnival newspaper this season.
This is also very difficult at the moment.
In what way?
Kögelsperger:
Well, public life
comes
to a complete standstill again with the second lockdown.
We were actually divided into three or four groups, each of which talked over the phone, then wrote reports for the newspaper or obtained information from other people about which topics we should and can write about.
But there are simply no articles and information.
It's just hard to write about something when nothing happens.
As a journalist, you know that best.
We will therefore decide at the end of the year whether there will be a carnival newspaper.
Is there a mood at all in a carnival that is not allowed to be?
Kögelsperger:
Mei, we have to make the best of it.
The situation cannot be changed.
And who wouldn't be better able to weather this pandemic with humor than we as a carnival club?
We have a long tradition.
As a wild bunch, we've been around forever, as a registered association since 2004. Last year we published the 50th issue of the carnival newspaper, so we have a good sense of humor.
Can you explain why there are some islands of humor like Königsdorf in Bavaria, which is generally more carnival-tired? In Munich, for example, where there was one ball after the other in the 1970s and 80s, there is hardly anything on offer these days.
Kögelsperger:
Not really.
Somehow this tradition has just kept with us.
In addition to the hustle and bustle or the train, we have the catacomb ball in the lord's knight's cellar, which was in the last season for the tenth year.
And I have always known about the foolish room on Nonsensical Thursday in the Hofherr.
Unfortunately, both will fall flat in 2021.
Should there be another season in 2021/22: What's next in Königsdorf?
Kögelsperger:
We keep the original rhythm.
That means we will then have a carnival market on the main street.
The train will follow in 2023. That has to do with the carnival newspaper.
We only bring them out when there is a train parallel - or there would be one, as this year.
I went to the district office once.
Should the situation improve significantly by February, we would even get a permit for a train.
In view of the current infection rate, I do not believe in it.
