Summary :
On April 25, 2019, the President of the Republic proposes to create a Citizen's Convention for the climate.
The 150 citizens drawn by lot are responsible for finding solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030, compared to 1990. That day, Emmanuel Macron declared: "
What will come out of this convention, I promise, will be submitted without filter, either to the vote of the Parliament, or to referendum, or to direct regulatory application.
"
On June 21, 2020, 149 proposals emerge after several months of debate.
However, several participants expressed their concerns.
They fear that their ideas will be diverted from their original purpose.
On November 16, Cyril Dion, the initiator of the project, launched an online petition entitled: "
Save the Citizen's Convention for the Climate
".
He criticizes the President of the Republic for not keeping his commitments.
