The government of the state of Amazonas, located in northwestern Brazil, suspended non-essential economic activities for 15 days on Monday due to the pandemic.

The decision is given in compliance with a ruling of the state Court of Justice, due to the "serious emergency" in public health caused by covid-19.

Especially due to an increase in hospitalizations.

In April and May 2020, Manaus, the capital of the state, was the epicenter of contagions in Brazil.

What caused a collapse of hospitals and cemeteries.

The shopping centers will only work to pick up products previously purchased online from their parking lots.

The official note adds that a contingency plan is being executed that added 409 beds in the last 10 days.
