A horrific act of abuse and killing of various animals was revealed today (Tuesday) in a landfill near the settlement of Kasifa in the eastern Negev.
Arik Zarchi, a volunteer from the Arad Lachi organization, who came to collect puppies, noticed a horrible sight of dozens of dog carcasses, goat carcasses and the remains of other animals, scattered throughout the landfill.
"The story there is much bigger and worse than the one being filmed. This is an area of not very large that is full of corpses of different animals that died for various reasons. The place looks just like a killing valley. Any treatment, "says Zarchi.
Zarhi demonstrates the magnitude of the horror and says: "One of the residents showed me a small town he took from there. The town was taken there to die and starve to death next to his mother, who died of an unknown cause. "I saw a dead sheep with a ruptured abdomen and a child lying dead next to it. It probably died after the calving failed and did not receive any help, as is customary."
"Among the many dozens or hundreds of goat and sheep carcasses, dog carcasses could also be found. All this in an open area about 150 meters from the settlement. The area is probably infected with many different types of infectious diseases. There are local children running around barefoot. Of these children in the future to the hardships of animals and to the concepts of life and death, "says Zarhi.
Following a request from the Arad Lachi Association, an animal welfare association in Israel together with the association's legal counsel, Adv. Inbal Keidar, acted immediately to file a complaint with the Israel Police and reported to all government ministries Requiring police to collect and transfer the bodies for autopsy.
The Arad Lachi organization notes that despite the efforts, the bodies of the animals have not yet been collected.
The association said that talks were held with Tal Gilboa, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's assistant on animal rights issues, and that there was also a conversation with an animal welfare officer at the police.
