, which for seven consecutive years had had the dubious honor of leading the number of illegal downloads worldwide.
The adventures of the Mandalorian and Grogu (also known as Baby Yoda) are not only one of the greatest attractions that the Disney + platform has.
They have also shown their enormous power off the screen, with their characters turned into recurring memes on the Internet and an inexhaustible source of
merchandising
.
Its first season, broadcast at the end of 2019 at a time when Disney + had not yet advanced in its international expansion (it landed in Spain in March 2020), it was the third most pirated series of 2019.
The list of fictions with the most illegal downloads last year continues with the second season of
The Boys
(Amazon Prime Video) in second position, while
Westworld
(HBO) placed third.

The Torrentfreak data, in any case, only refers to BitTorrent downloads, leaving out illegal

and other hacking systems.
Many of these series are broadcast on digital platforms that do not provide viewing data, so this list can be used to get an idea of the popularity of these titles around the world.
More transparent are the data provided by Nielsen in the United States regarding traditional chains.
In the list of the most watched programs in the United States in 2020, 33 of the top 50 positions are occupied by American football league games, with the Super Bowl at the top and the 99.9 million viewers that it gathered on 2 February.
The two presidential debates (73.1 million and 63 million viewers, respectively) and the face to face between candidates for the vice presidency in the United States (57.9 million) are the next most watched programs of the year in the United States, although their High follow-up responds to the sum of the different channels that issued them.
It is not until 22nd place that the broadcast of an event that has nothing to do with sports or politics: the premiere of the third edition of

on Fox, which was seen by 23.7 million viewers.
