"The Knesset Guard is doing everything it takes to be prepared for the possibility that an event like the one that took place in the US Congress will not happen in the Knesset," Knesset officer Joseph Griff said yesterday.

Griff, who has been in office for about 11 years, told Israel Today: "Of course there is no 100 percent certainty that such an event will never happen in the Knesset, but we are coordinated with the police, and if God forbid there is such an attempt, we can deal with it."

Security officials in the Knesset assessed last night that security personnel in Congress may not have been prepared for the possibility of Trump supporters breaking into the congressional building and were not coordinated with the police.

They said some of the security personnel in Congress may have identified with and collaborated with Trump supporters.

The Knesset Guard employs about 205 security personnel, all of whom are graduates of combat units in the IDF.

It is a force that has been trained and trained to handle extraordinary events.

The members of the unit are carefully selected and walk around the Knesset in civilian clothes to assimilate among the 160,000 visitors to the Knesset in a normal year before the corona.

In the past, there have been several attempts by demonstrators to break into the Knesset.

The most significant events were after the Yom Kippur War when the demonstrations against the government led by Golda Meir began, there were also attempts by the farmers and the disabled who demonstrated against the government to break into the Knesset, but they failed.

The most serious case occurred in 1957, when Moshe Duak threw a spray grenade into the plenary hall from the guest gallery at the Frumin House and injured Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and three government ministers.
