The cold weather warning came into effect. The lowest temperature recorded at the Observatory’s headquarters this morning was 7.7 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature since the beginning of winter. Tai Mo Shan dropped to minus 2.5 degrees, making it the coldest area in Hong Kong.

Under low temperatures, some plants condense to form "songs".

The Observatory recently lowered its forecast for tomorrow (9th) temperature. It is expected that the lowest temperature in the urban area will be only 7 degrees tomorrow, and Ta Kwu Ling will drop to 4 degrees. It will be severely cold in the morning.

The cold weather is expected to continue until next Wednesday (13th). As the winter monsoon eases late next week, the Observatory expects the highest temperature in the urban area next weekend to rise to the "2", when the temperature will warm up slightly.

The winter monsoon is bringing cold weather to Hong Kong, and it is mild to the fresh northerly wind, and strong winds are blowing offshore and on high ground at first.

Tai Mo Shan fell to minus 2.5 degrees this morning and once again fell below freezing.

Due to strong winds and high humidity in the mountains, some plants condense "song".

The Observatory once explained that in severe cold weather, small water droplets are extremely cooled. When they touch the surface of an object whose temperature is below the freezing point, they immediately freeze into pure white ice crystals, and a large number of frozen ice crystals form fog.

Mist often freezes on vegetation or rocks and grows toward the windward side, resulting in a feather-like appearance.

Affected by the winter monsoon and its supplement, the Observatory lowered its forecast for tomorrow's minimum temperature. It is expected that the minimum temperature in the urban area is only 7 degrees, the morning is severely cold, and the sky is clear and very dry during part of the day, and the minimum relative humidity is only 30%.

According to the Observatory’s weather forecast, until next Thursday, the Observatory expects that Hong Kong will continue to be cold, with the minimum temperature ranging from 9 to 11 degrees. The cold weather warning may continue to be in force.

The Observatory predicts that Hong Kong will leave the sunshine early next week and will usher in cloudy weather. However, the dry continental airflow will affect southern China at the beginning of next week. The weather in Hong Kong will become clearer from next Tuesday. In addition, the winter monsoon will ease in the latter part of the next week. Coastal temperatures have rebounded, and the highest temperature in the urban area of Hong Kong is expected to rise to 20 degrees next Saturday.
