The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air space forces will, during 2021, obtain new air defense systems, including the "S-350" system known as "Vityaz".
According to a statement issued by the Ministry's press office, according to Russian media, the first air defense regiment of the Russian Air Force Space Forces will acquire new missile systems, including the "S-350" systems, in addition to two new groups of "S-400" and 18 "S Pantsir" systems. Pointing out that the "S-350" missile systems will replace the "S-300BS" in the army and will increase the capabilities of the air defense forces to intercept winged missiles by two and a half times.
According to the statement, these systems can intercept about 16 targets simultaneously, and their missiles are able to destroy targets at altitudes of up to 30 kilometers and at distances of up to 120 kilometers.
According to the statement, last year the Russian Army Air Defense Forces received four groups of S-400 and 24 S Pantsir systems and sent these systems to the military forces in the Sverdlovsk, Samara and Yuzhno-Sakhalin regions. The Military Training Center in the suburbs of Leningrad also received a system of a kind S 350.
