The Wall Street Journal reports that according to a UN secret report, the Islamic Republic has begun promoting the production of the material - which is used almost exclusively for the development of nuclear weapons.
The Islamic Republic has begun construction of a serial production facility for uranium metal, a key component at the core of nuclear weapons, according to a secret report by the Atomic Energy Agency, which was revealed today (Wednesday) by the Wall Street Journal.

According to the report, Iran informed the agency in 2019 that it intends to build serial uranium metal production facilities at the facility near the city of Isfahan.
According to the Iranians, they need the material for a nuclear reactor for research purposes in Tehran.
Experts told the newspaper that Iran has not yet begun production of the material but is close to it.
The reason the report raises concerns in the global intelligence community is that it could attest to all that Iran is in the final stages of building atomic bombs, with enough enriched nuclear material in its possession.
Enriched uranium is a solid and stable material used primarily for the production of fuel rods for nuclear power plants or a core for nuclear weapons.
Iran has in the past year begun to breach more and more of its commitments under the nuclear deal with the six powers and began developing and installing advanced centrifuges, increasing the rate and rate of uranium enrichment and building new underground nuclear facilities.
