The US House of Representatives voted in favor of passing a bill to remove outgoing US President Donald Trump from office through Amendment 25 of the Constitution, against the backdrop of Trump's supporters storming the Capitol building last Wednesday.

CNN reported today that 223 deputies voted in favor of the draft resolution against 205 rejecting it, noting that the draft resolution won the support of one Republican vote among the voters, represented by Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger.

According to the network, this vote amounts to a symbolic reprimand, especially since Mike Pence, Trump's vice president, announced earlier his refusal to resort to the Twenty-Fifth Amendment to the Constitution to remove the president, in a decision that will prompt Democrats to file an indictment for the second time in a precedent in the history of the United States. Trump to stand trial in the Senate with the aim of impeaching him.

The United States is preparing to install President-elect Joe Biden on January 20 at a ceremony to be held in Washington, DC, amid exceptional security measures, due to fears of new violence after a crowd of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol to interrupt the confirmation session on his opponent's victory in the elections.
