The Washington Post, citing sources in the US administration, revealed that US President Donald Trump is isolated and frustrated during the last days of his presidential term and is angry at his aides, whom he accused of “abandoning him” in the second vote against him in the House of Representatives, which made him the first US president to be tried twice.
The newspaper quoted what it described as a prominent US administration official as saying that Trump appeared increasingly isolated, sullen and vengeful, with only six days left in power, as offices in the White House began to empty and the number of his close associates shrank.
The newspaper pointed out that Trump is angry because his allies did not launch a strong campaign to defend him against the accusations leveled against him that he incited the mob to storm the headquarters of Congress in addition to his anger at his deputy, Mike Pence, who failed in his opinion to "turn the election result in his favor."
Last night, the US House of Representatives agreed with a majority of its members to hold Trump accountable for incitement to rebellion in storming Congress, in a move that would open the door to the Senate to prevent him from assuming the presidency again if convicted.
Trump became the first American president to face accountability twice, as he had never removed a US president from his post through impeachment, and he is expected to begin his trial in the House after the end of his term on the 20th of this month and Biden is installed to be the 46th president of the United States.
