The mayor of San Nicandro Garganico (Foggia), Costantino Ciavarella, who was hospitalized since last December 26 after contracting Covid, died last night at the Masselli Mascia hospital in San Severo (Foggia).
Ciavarella was 65 years old and was a doctor.
He was elected in the center-right in the last municipal elections of 2018. As far as it is known, he contracted the virus during a visit to a patient who later tested positive.
A few days ago it seemed that his condition was improving, but then there was a sharp deterioration.
Numerous messages of condolence are coming from the mayors of the nearby Gargano cities.
