Germany and Italy: differences and links between two important political operas

Two high-voltage operas are performed at this time on the Italian and German political stages.

As it could not be otherwise, the first is marked by melodramatic features, abrupt turns of the script, coloraturas, buffoonish moments, others moving, and some admirable bel canto individualities;

the other runs supported by measured recitatives, an extraordinary orchestral and choral rapport, moments of grandeur.
