The Prime Minister was on Saturday in the Allier to discuss the post-epidemic world which, according to him, is based in particular on digital technology.

Prime Minister Jean Castex made Saturday January 16 a trip to the Allier dedicated to digital to highlight the "

concrete applications

" of the government recovery plan, insisting on the need to continue to "

prepare for the future

" despite the crisis sanitary.

Recalling that "

all his energy

" was "

mobilized on the fight against the health crisis, priority of priorities

", he insisted on his desire to also show that the government continued to be concerned about the future, "

because the future, of course, there will be

”.

The Prime Minister signed in Varennes-sur-Allier an agreement for the State's participation in the digital development of Auvergne with the president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region Laurent Wauquiez, before symbolically linking a connection node optical.

A budget of 420.5 million euros will be devoted to accelerating the deployment of fiber in France, particularly in 12 remote areas, called the Public Initiative Network, where private operators do not go on their own.

123 million will be allocated to Auvergne alone.

This envelope must be supplemented by 150 million euros as part of the very high speed France Plan launched in 2013, which aims to cover all of France by 2025.

Major issue

The government recovery plan also provides for 250 million euros for “

digital inclusion

” and 88 million for the transformation and digital tools of communities.

Digital technology, and in particular the deployment of fiber, is "

a major issue for economic development, regional planning and equal access to all, businesses and our fellow citizens, in the future

", insisted Jean Castex.

And, alongside Laurent Wauquiez, he praised the fact that political opponents can “

find themselves for the benefit of fellow citizens

”, who, according to him, “would

not understand that in the serious health crisis in which we find ourselves (.. .) we got lost in polemics and useless chicayas

”.

According to data published in early December by the Telecoms Regulatory Authority (Arcep), nearly one million additional fiber optic subscriptions were recorded in France in the third quarter of 2020, for a total of 13.6 million very high speed subscribers.
