Walkers between Harthaus and Streiflach were terribly annoyed a few days ago: A blackthorn hedge on the edge of the forest by Harthaus was cleared away with heavy equipment.

The owner is a farmer from Aubingen.

The action was completely legal.

Germering

- Moritz Möbius has lived in Harthaus since 1972 and regularly uses the walking paths between Germering and Gut Streiflach.

What he recently observed shocked him as well as many other Germeringer strollers.

A worker used a caterpillar to push away the sloe thorn hedge that had been standing on the edge of the Harthaus forest for decades.

That might have been right, said Möbius.

But he thinks that it could have been done more gently.

"That could have been made more sensitive"

The clearing of the hedge was indeed legitimate.

The Aubingen farmer Johann Oberhauser, who bought the adjacent field from the state capital four years ago, has only brought his field back to its original size.

The promenade used to run further north and has been shifted further south over the years.

The walkers had meanwhile walked on a strip of his property.

Oberhauser admits, however, that the clearance campaign was unfortunate: "That could have been made more sensitive." However, everything will soon grow back up.

The fact that the image and the state of his homeland mean something to him can also be seen in the following facts: One and a half years ago, he had the Marienkapelle near the field repaired at his own expense.

Johann Oberhauser also reminds us that every year around the chapel he creates flower areas for insects on around two hectares.

Preserving nature is important to him.

State restored from the land register

Thomas Wieser, Head of the Environment Department at the Building Authority, confirms Oberhauser's point of view.

In the past, the path actually ran further north.

He can still remember that from his childhood.

The relocation could have been made less violent, but ultimately the farmer only restored the condition recorded in the land register.

The herbal pedagogue Dagmar Doll, who, like Möbius and Wieser, lives in Harthaus, is also annoyed that the hedge at the edge of the forest has been brutally pushed aside: “My heart is bleeding!

Certainly totally legal.

You can do it like that, but you don't have to. ”Because of the deforestation, she thought about the future of the landscape between Harthaus and Streiflach, especially that of a hornbeam standing there.
