The snow caused significant traffic difficulties in Ile-de-France this Saturday, with sometimes terrible consequences.

Two deaths are indeed to be deplored on the roads, in the Val-d'Oise and in Seine-et-Marne.

An accident cost the life of a 21-year-old woman on the D922, in Luzarches (Val-d'Oise).

The road, slippery because of the snow, would have resulted in a collision between two vehicles, one facing the other, not far from the golf course.

The young woman was taken care of on the spot by the emergency services which unfortunately could not revive her.

The other victim, a 61-year-old man, was hospitalized but his life was not in danger.

It is in similar circumstances that a man also died, in a fatal face-to-face on the D228 near Boutigny (Seine-et-Marne), near Meaux.

Several incidents in Seine-et-Marne

With between 5 to 10 cm of snow in Seine-et-Marne, including 4,700 kilometers of departmental roads, the departments of the department are nevertheless on the bridge.

Since 10 am, the teams have been patrolling the main network, level 1, to clear the snow which continues to fall.

Some incidents are to be deplored including trucks crossing on the D606 and D607.

Difficulties concentrated on sloping roads like the D934, D21 and D401.

With the return of rain this evening, ice is expected in the south of the department.

Elsewhere in Ile-de-France, traffic difficulties were observed but without major incident.

Same situation in the Oise, where a dozen accidents were noted by firefighters, without seriousness.

A problem of anticipation?

Snow made its appearance this Saturday morning in Ile-de-France, with the first flakes falling around 9 a.m. in the vicinity of Magny-en-Vexin (Val-d'Oise), 50 kilometers north-west of Paris .

At least 2 centimeters fell in an hour, surprising motorists for whom the roads were not all salty.

"Every time it snows, it's the same thing", also complains a motorist from Beauvais (Oise), who would have liked better anticipation.

Ile-de-France and Oise had been placed on snow and ice orange vigilance on Friday evening by Météo France.

Forecasts that the commune of Vélizy-Villacoublay (Yvelines) had anticipated, which did not want to relive the snowy episode of 2018. "It takes 4 hours to salt and make the roads passable early in the morning", justifies the municipality .
