States take extreme security measures to prevent possible sources of violence

Hotspots in the nation's capital, Washington DC, are armored this Saturday after an 

exceptional deployment of security forces

 following the FBI warning that there may be new violent acts after last week's assault on the Capitol, carried out by supporters of the president, Donald Trump.

The National Mall, where the White House and the Capitol are located, is closed to the public until at least January 21.

At least 13 states have also activated National Guard units in 

their capitals or in the vicinity of buildings that represent the legislative branch

 after detecting potential threats to the security of those places.

In several of these places, fences are being built, windows are covered and employees are being warned to stay away, The Associated Press news agency reports.

The FBI alerted police departments across the country earlier this week that there may be armed protests in all 50 states of the country from this Saturday 

until at least next Wednesday

It is not yet clear how many of these planned protests will occur.

The FBI warning does not imply that the police already have concrete indications that there will be violence in every state.
