A few minutes after arriving in Moscow, Alexei Navalny was arrested at the airport. The Kremlin critic was taken away at passport control. Russia's penitentiary system had put him out to be wanted because he was said to have violated probation requirements in previous criminal proceedings while he was in Germany. Shortly before the start, Alexej Navalny had shown himself to be humorous on board the machine. "Hopefully we'll get there," he told the journalists who were traveling with them. His wife quoted a well-known Russian film: "Boy, bring us vodka, we're going home." For months, the Kremlin opponent Alexej Navalny had recovered from a poison attack in Germany. Doctors from the Charité in Berlin had saved his life after the 44-year-old had barely survived a murder attack with the neurotoxin Novitschok in Siberia.
