An avalanche hit two ski tourers below the Probstenwand on Saturday.
Fortunately, the two men were not buried, but both suffered injuries.
The avalanche danger in the Upper Bavarian mountains is currently considerable
On Saturday, an avalanche caught two ski tourers who had set off from the Längental towards the Probstenwand
At around 7 p.m., the mountain rescue service was alerted and rescued the two injured
Bad Tölz / Wackersberg -
The two 30-year-old ski tourers from the district were, according to the mountain rescue service, on a tour on Saturday from the Längental car park in the direction of Probstenwand and Hennenkopf.
The two caught the avalanches in a steep section in front of the Hennenkopf.
Fortunately, men were not buried
At that point the men had unbuckled their skis.
"Fortunately, they were not buried, but slid about a hundred meters downhill on the avalanche," reports Norbert Weinhuber from the Tölzer Mountain Rescue Service.
The tourers lost their equipment and suffered injuries.
Injured people still try to dismount themselves, but at some point cannot continue
At first the two tried to get down on their own, but when they couldn't get any further they dialed the emergency number.
"The problematic cell phone reception in this area delayed this," said Weinhuber.
At around 7 p.m., the Oberland integrated control center notified the mountain rescue service and reported the two injured people between Längenberg and Neulandhütte.
Several helpers went out with a skidoo, among other things.
The victims of the accident were located by telephone and by the glow of their headlamps.
Two emergency services climbed the last bit to join them.
Ambulance takes men to the hospital
After the knee, thigh and head injuries were quickly treated, the emergency services brought the already hypothermic tourers to the skidoo.
This transported them into the valley, from there the ambulance took them to the hospital.
Around 10 p.m., the work for the four Tölzer and two Lenggries mountain rescuers was over.
It is not the first avalanche in the district in recent days.
It was only on Thursday that an avalanche on Garland am Brauneck hit two ski tourers.
On Saturday, an avalanche above the Eibsee in the neighboring district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen caused a larger search.
