Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's associates are working for the unification of National Union Chairman Bezalel Smutrich and Jewish power in the upcoming elections, Walla! NEWS learned today (Sunday). Political sources close to Netanyahu spoke with Adv. Itamar Ben Gvir, one of the leaders Jewish power, and persuaded him to unite with the Smutrich-led National Union Party.
There are no direct talks between Smutrich and Ben Gvir, and Smutrich is apparently also waiting for developments in the primaries for the presidency of the Jewish House to be held this week to examine the possibility of another connection.
After announcing that he would run on an independent list, Netanyahu's entourage is working for Smutrich to pass the blocking percentage, in order to secure 5-4 seats for the right-wing bloc headed by him.
However, Smutrich's party said in response that "we will not allow the involvement of interested political elements", and that they are "busy putting together a list as broad as possible, one that will contain the range of shades in religious Zionism and allow everyone to feel represented in it".

Ben Gvir claimed in response that "there is no need to put any pressure on me. I have always been in favor of connections and unity and even today I call on all my friends to unite and connect for the victory of the right."
He added that he has no doubt that "if all the elements to the right of the Likud and Bennett unite, it will be possible to achieve and translate them for the benefit of the people of Israel and the Land of Israel."
The Likud denied Netanyahu's involvement in attempts to unite the parties.
The Battle for the Jewish Home
The primaries for the presidency of the Jewish House are in fact also a battle between Bennett and Smutrich.
Bennett is interested in the victory of the party's general manager Nir Orbach in favor of joining him, but Smutrich prefers the victory of Hagit Moshe, and some of his supporters are working in her favor in the internal race. Meanwhile, this morning an awareness campaign of Jewish power was launched with a picture of Ben Gvir under the headline: "Ben Gvir. Judaism. Truth. A way."
The party claimed that if the union's attempts were unsuccessful, "in any case the voter will have a note of Jewish power in the upcoming elections. We will not be able to leave our broad support base without an alternative."
This is not the first time that Netanyahu has tried to interfere in what is happening in the religious Zionist parties.
In the elections to the 23rd Knesset, Jewish Power offered various proposals to retire from the race, including a proposal to lower the blocking percentage, in a way that would be good for the party, in exchange for retiring and transferring its support to another party, such as Torah Judaism.
In the previous election campaigns as well, Netanyahu held talks with his people and political elements with Jewish power, so that the party, whose power is estimated at two seats, would unite or resign.
