For the third day in a row, the German Weather Service is issuing a severe weather warning of heavy snowfall for the south of Bavaria.

It is currently snowing all over Bavaria.

Commuters in particular should plan well for tomorrow.

Munich, January 17, 9:02 p.m.

- The

German Weather Service (DWD)

has issued a

severe weather warning *

for two districts on the edge of the Alps in

Bavaria

.

It is valid until

Monday (January 18), 12 noon.

The districts of

Ostallgäu

and

Oberallgäu

are affected

.

Up to 50 centimeters of fresh snow * should fall again by tomorrow in traffic jams.

But

winter service in Bavaria

has its

hands full

not only there

.

The DWD has issued an

official weather warning

for the entire south of Bavaria

.

Up to 40 centimeters in congestion and otherwise up to

30 centimeters of fresh snow

are expected here.

The districts are affected:

Official warning of heavy snowfall in the south of Bavaria - these districts are affected

  • Weilheim-Schongau

  • Garmisch-Partenkirchen

  • Bad Toelz-Wolfratshausen

  • Miesbach

  • Rosenheim

  • Berchtesgadener Land

  • Traunstein

  • Ostallgäu (severe weather warning)

  • Oberallgäu (severe weather warning)

Already a precarious snow situation in the south of Bavaria

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen district in particular was shaken by a violent onset of winter on Friday night *.

On Saturday there was even an avalanche near Greinau. * Elsewhere, like in the district of Miesbach *, the weather would be perfect - but unfortunately only people who live closer than 15 kilometers to the relevant mountains and slopes can enjoy it.

Because of the 200 incidence there, the 15-kilometer rule applies here, including a ban on entering the district for day trippers.

Snow in Bavaria: The risk of avalanches in the Bavarian Alps is very high

With the considerable amounts of snow over the past few days, the

danger of avalanches

also increases

.

Today (January 17th) another avalanche went off near Bad Tölz and hit two ski tourers.

A few days ago there was an avalanche in the region.

"In the Allgäu, Ammergauer and Werdenfelser Alps, the avalanche danger above the tree line is great, in the rest of the Bavarian Alps it is widespread," warns the Bavarian Avalanche Warning Center.

The authority further writes:

"The main problem is fresh snowdrift accumulations. These can be triggered as large snowboards by the slight additional load of a single skier or snowboarder."

Weather in Bavaria: Snow all over the Free State - all the way to Nuremberg

Not exactly snow chaos, but there are currently still snowfalls all over Bavaria.

In Nuremberg * the white splendor was even enough for sledding in the city parks - a rare sight.

At the same time, the following applies to

all commuters on Monday mornings across Bavaria

:

smooth roads, some with drifting snow

, allow more time and drive carefully.

After continuous snow: in the middle of the week a sharp turn in the weather

However, those who are already very used to the

white splendor

should enjoy it as extensively as possible as soon as possible.

Because from

Wednesday

spring

temperatures with double-digit plus degrees

suddenly

come to Bavaria.

The DWD estimates the

temperature increase to 7 to 12 degrees

from the middle of the week.

Then comes rain.

Both are known to be pure poison for the snowman.
