Wood and solar power and soon also wind power? - Energy from the Ebersberg Forest has a long tradition

For decades, the Ebersberger Forst was good enough for us as a garbage dump. Now there is a stir about the forest as a wind power location. He's always been a source of energy. An opinion piece.

For decades, the Ebersberger Forst was good enough for us as a garbage dump.

Now there is a stir about the forest as a wind power location.

He's always been a source of energy.

An opinion piece.

Gravel pit, garbage pit, excavation pit: In the past, this three-field economy has not infrequently led to individual prosperity in the Ebersberg district.

In Ebersberg, this added value was supplemented by another variant, of which we all benefit and at the end of which there is now not the excavation but the energy field - a large solar open space system at the former Schafweide landfill.

The calculation for the energy transition is currently not working

As a reminder: In nine years the Ebersberg district wanted to be free and independent of the consumption of fossil energy.

This would have to be pushed hard if this project did not turn into an illusion.

Now there is a new idea: the construction of wind turbines on areas on the sheep pasture, on which gravel is to be extracted first and which, after renaturation, could serve as a location for wind turbines.

More than just a blemish: These areas belong to the Ebersberger Forest.

So resistance is programmed.

No resistance to the dump

But where was this resistance actually when our civilization garbage was dumped here for decades?

The Ebersberg Forest is sacred to many district citizens.

It is a valuable asset and fulfills many functions.

He creates identity.

We love this forest as it is.

But it is a commercial forest where there used to be a primeval forest.

Because the more than 100-year-old spruce stands that we know were all planted by people.

Efforts can be seen to transform the forest back into a mixed forest, as it can be seen on old engravings.

That makes sense with regard to climate change.

But one thing is certain: The Ebersberger Forst has always been an energy supplier.

This tradition could also be taken up again.

In compliance with all requirements.

All news from the city and district of Ebersberg in the Ebersberger Zeitung.

The district citizens should vote on five wind turbines in the Ebersberger Forest.

The energy agency provides information on this.

It is the wrong place for this, comments our author.
