The car sharing project in Wartenberg is getting serious.

Now the search for sponsors starts.

The mayor fears difficulties due to Corona.

We explain how car sharing works.

Wartenberg - From this week on, the topic of car sharing in the market town of Wartenberg is getting serious.

The company Mikar from Deggendorf, which is known to provide the market with a nine-seater, is now going on the advertising offensive and is trying to find as many companies as possible for the sponsor-financed project.

“The goal is to find enough partners in around eight weeks,” says Mayor Christian Pröbst.

He admits that this endeavor "will not be easy in the current Corona situation".

Mikar makes an Opel Movano available to the market for four years without a monthly fixed price.

But this requires local sponsors who buy space on the car for advertising.

According to a presentation of the project in the market council, there is space for 15 to 25 sponsors on the vehicle, and an average advertising space costs 1500 euros.

When asked by our newspaper, Michelle Wisesa from the Deggendorf company's sales force reported that she had received an extensive list of entrepreneurs, mostly from the community, from the market.

These should be written to during the week.

When that happens, she will make phone calls with the possible sponsors.

Despite all the caution, Mayor Pröbst is already full of anticipation: “I think that's a great thing, it creates more opportunities for our citizens to be mobile.

You don't even have to buy a car, you can rent it.

You can drive one car where two would otherwise have to drive, ”says Pröbst.

For example, the football fan thinks of visiting a Bayern game in the Allianz Arena.

“We always drove into the stadium with two cars because we have seven season tickets and can now do without a car,” Pröbst calculates.

In the following we clarify the most important questions about car sharing in Wartenberg.

costs

According to Mikar's press release, the nine-seater is intended "as a flexible addition to your own vehicle".

The usage fee is EUR 4.90 per hour or EUR 44.90 per day.

Including 300 free kilometers, each additional kilometer costs 10 cents.

Who can drive?

In principle everyone.

"All associations, companies, private individuals and visitors to the market town and the surrounding area will be able to use the vehicle for their own purposes at any time." The requirement, according to Mikar: "The driver must have had a valid driver's license for at least one year." Mayor Pröbst estimates that people who do not have a bigger car will use the car in particular.

For example for excursions, club trips or help with moving.

Location

The market has already reserved 5 Thenner Strasse for the nine-seater, which is an “easily accessible and visible location” for Mikar.

Registration

“A one-time free registration as a driver is sufficient,” promises the Deggendorf company.

The booking is made via the mobile phone app.

After registering online, users receive a contract form.

In order to complete the registration, you have to present the signed form together with your driver's license and photo ID at the town hall, at the Deimel gas station or by email to Mikar GmbH.

Ticketing

With the app, users can book the vehicle for the desired time.

The range extends from 30 minutes to several days for longer excursions.

Before starting the journey, the vehicle is opened via the app and the booking is started.

Keys and vehicle papers are ready in the glove compartment.

Who pays for damage?

What about the insurance?

Market councilor Michael Pröbst wanted to know that at a meeting in October.

The user will only be charged for damage “if the cause is 100 percent certain.

We want to reduce the comprehensive insurance deductible to 500 euros in 2021, ”said a Mikar employee.

concerns

There were also critical voices in the Market Council.

CSU parliamentary group leader Franz Gerstner was the only one to vote against car sharing.

He denounced unequal treatment of local traders (see box).

Martina Scheyhing (Greens) asked at that meeting whether an e-car would not be possible, the nine-seater is a combustion engine.

According to Mikar, the range of e-cars is not sufficient for use as planned in Wartenberg.

Car sharing is not only a hot topic in Wartenberg. As reported, the Mikar company from Deggendorf has also extended its feelers to other communities in the Erding district. It is already represented at 60 locations, mainly across Bavaria. When asked by our newspaper, employee Michelle Wisesa reports on the current situation. According to her, a contract has already been signed with the community of Taufkirchen. In Isen, however, nothing is certain, the topic has been postponed to 2021. As is well known, there were concerns in the local council - similar to those in Wartenberg, by the way - because local companies could be disadvantaged. Wisesa describes the signing of the contract with the municipality of Moosinning as "fairly safe". And for the Hörlkofen administrative community, Mikar is already providing an electric car for the community. However, this is not about classic car sharing. The Nissan is used for school and supply trips, for example.
