The centrist MP, chair of the Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee, died Wednesday at the age of 69 from leukemia.
"
By creating the Modem with François Bayrou, Marielle de Sarnez ensured the political independence of the center and the center-right
", underlined Prime Minister Jean Castex, at the beginning of the questioning session to the government attended by Bayrou in the gallery.
"
Other majorities than ours have sought to subjugate the center rather than making it an ally,
" noted the head of government.
"
The Republic and Europe have lost a fighter from the start
," also greeted Jean Castex.
"
Let us pay tribute to this exemplary parliamentarian who fought to her last breath to complete the report on European policies in the face of the health crisis
".
She was a "
great activist for democracy and Europe
", also declared Assembly President Richard Ferrand (LREM).
The leader of the MoDem deputies, Patrick Mignola, also greeted this woman leaving "
a political work
", from her international actions to her "
fights also as elected of Paris
".
Just as François Bayrou had found in her another himself, "
she too had found in him another herself
", he stressed, in an atmosphere marked by emotion.
Right-wing and left-wing deputies then spoke about this figure from the Palais Bourbon and former minister.
