Chile tightens restrictions due to increased infections 1:21

This Wednesday, the panel of experts from the Institute of Public Health of Chile (ISP) authorized by 10 votes in favor, 2 against and 1 abstention the emergency use of the vaccine against covid-19 developed by the Chinese company Sinovac Life Sciences for people between 18 and 59 years old.
The experts met electronically and although they authorized the use of the vaccine, they also requested that the Chinese laboratory provide more information related to the quality of the product and pharmacological monitoring.

The director of the Institute, Heriberto García, pointed out that the Sinovac vaccine “is safe and effective.
It prevents hospitalizations and the severity of this disease ”and explained that two doses are needed with a difference of 14 days.
In addition, García recalled that this vaccine has already been authorized by other countries such as China, Indonesia, Turkey and Brazil.
The Sinovac vaccine will be added to the doses of Pfizer-BioNTech that are already available in the southern country.
These doses have been inoculated to 10,000 health officials and older adults.
During the morning, the Ministry of Health of Chile reported 3,583 new cases of coronavirus and 21 deaths this Wednesday.
There are a total of 680,740 infections and 17,594 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in the southern country.
