The General Directorate of Meteorology expected that the climatic atmosphere will tend to stabilize until the middle of next week, when the temperatures are around average or slightly lower in the day, with very cold weather during the night hours, as a result of the area being affected by an extension of the Siberian air height associated with cold and dry currents while the existing cold air mass remains.
In a statement to SANA's delegate, meteorologist Kanaz Kiwan mentioned that the depression that affected the area during the past 24 hours recorded heavy rains in several areas, while the highest snowfall was concentrated in the Jabal Al-Arab region, recorded 20 cm, and in Sargaya in Damascus countryside 10 cm, warning of the formation of ice On mountainous areas, frost and fog in most inland areas at night, where temperatures are below zero degrees Celsius in most areas.
Kiwan expected that the country will be affected, starting next Wednesday, by an air depression laden with rain and snowfall at the high clear heights, revealing that the region will be affected by a series of depressions during the remainder of the winter season, accompanied by high efficiency and snow breaks during the beginning of next February.
The depression that witnessed in the region during the past days was accompanied by a very cold air mass that led to heavy rain and snow in most mountainous areas and strong winds that reach 70 kilometers per hour upon gusts.
