Angela Merkel must have a particularly thick skin in the Corona crisis.
The Chancellor is being criticized from all sides.
Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shows how close this is to her.
Munich - Now, at the latest, it should
dawn on
Angela Merkel
: The last months of her
16-year tenure as Federal Chancellor
will be the most difficult of all.
Because in the
corona crisis
, enormous demands are made on each individual.
Not infrequently to the limit of reasonableness.
Small and medium-sized companies fear for their
existence
.
Children and young people have to deal with the
subject
matter
within their own four walls
- and thus far away from friends.
Many a family is torn apart, the members do not see each other for weeks.
Friendships
are put to the test,
not to mention
long-distance relationships
.
Merkel in the Corona crisis: suddenly Trudeau is chatting about "wonderful phone call with Merkel"
The pandemic is a
stress test
for Germany
.
And Merkel has to maneuver the country through all the imponderables that lurk there.
There is no
golden way
.
Merkel knows that. And that is bad news.
Justin Trudeau has
now made it clear
how much the 66-year-old, who appears mostly aloof and emotionless in public,
suffers from
this
heavy burden
.
Even if presumably not with Merkel's blessing.
When
addressing his nation
, the Canadian Prime Minister suddenly chatted out of the sewing box.
He reveals: "I had a
wonderful phone call with Angela Merkel
yesterday
in which she complained, as it were, that she is being
criticized
every day
in the German media
because things are not going as well as in Canada."

Merkel in the Corona crisis: In-depth sentence in the dispute over strategy in schools and daycare centers
Interesting: The performance took place on Tuesday.
So the conversation between the two heads of state
must have taken place in the Chancellery
before the
latest Corona summit
.
In which Merkel vehemently resisted
criticism of her policy
.
Right up to the sentence, which gives a particularly deep look: “I won't let myself be
fooled into torturing children
.” Pleased with the several hours of and apparently extremely heated debate about the
future of schools and daycare centers
.
The impression is growing that the
Chancellor is
becoming thinner.
But
the
reports on TV, radio, internet and newspapers
do not
revolve
as often as they do
about the youngsters, who because of the
renewed lockdown extension,
still cannot play with their peers and will probably only be able to see the classrooms from the inside again in spring
vaccination start
too slow
.
And Merkel is feeling this particularly hard, because the euphoria right after the first vaccine was approved has long since disappeared.
Merkel in the Corona crisis: Choppy vaccination start lets such a small light on the horizon go out for the time being
Which makes governing even more complicated.
Even the
little light on the distant horizon
has gone out for the time being.
The term
herd immunity
was deleted from the vocabulary for the time being.
It will probably take a long time before the
risk groups
are
even taken
care of
.
That causes frustration.
Which is why Merkel has to take a lot in her final round, which should end with the general election in late summer.
She could
also have torn a wound
with her
complaint to Trudeau
.
Because in Canada too,
dissatisfaction with the lack of vaccination doses is
steadily increasing.
The second largest country in the world in terms of area has the advantage of an
extremely low population density
with only 38 million inhabitants
.

Probably the last big test as Chancellor: Angela Merkel is currently serving as a scapegoat for many in the Corona crisis.

Merkel in the Corona crisis: Canada is hardly better than Germany when it comes to vaccinations
But even though the
vaccinations started on December 9th,
Canada is hardly better off right now.
Converted to 100,000 inhabitants
, 1.7 people were vaccinated up to January 20, 2021, only slightly more than in Germany, which comes to 1.6.
This means that both states are well behind the
front-runner Israel
with 33.9.
Great Britain (7.5), the USA (4.8) and European countries such as Denmark (3.1), Spain (2.2) and Italy (2.0) are also making faster progress.
In this respect, Merkel and Trudeau are
fellow sufferers
.
And they should
feel
particularly connected
in the midst of the greatest crisis
.
