Some (young Starnbergers who have come together under the name “Feta Records”) want to build a culture ship. The others (Starnbergers who are building a “Kultursee gGmbH”) are planning a classical music festival on the lake promenade. And the next one (Professor Rudens Turku) is working on another edition of the Starnberg Music Days. On Monday evening the Culture Committee granted grants to all three projects.

Feta Records:

The non-profit association last caused a sensation in 2018 with a festival in the forest near Landstetten.

1200 visitors came to performances by bands and DJs, to dance shows, artists and craftsmen.

"Our target group are mainly young people and young adults," said the chairman of the registered association, Wilef Papageorgiou, who presented the latest project to the committee together with secretary Moritz Cappel.

It's about a culture ship that Feta Records wants to build.

It should be about four by twelve meters in size and transportable and set up at festivals and other activities.

“Why a ship?” Asked Anke Henniger (FDP).

In 2016 they already had a smaller one, which was very well received by the audience, replied Cappel, speaking of a unique selling point.

"Our aim is to create something unusual that has a recognizable character." They deliberately did not want to be dependent on professional sponsors, said Papageorgiou, also justifying the 14,000 euro application.

Winfried Wobbe (UWG) was enthusiastic about what the former students of the Starnberg high school are doing.

Michael Mignoli (BLS) felt reminded of "the Tollwood scene".

“The concept is great and extremely cool,” said Mayor Patrick Janik, but recalled the tense budget situation.

"I think 14,000 euros, which are not mandatory, are pretty generous if we run short on every cent in other places." Against the votes of Janik and the CSU city councilors Dr.

Charlotte Meyer-Bülow and Katja Fohrmann nevertheless approved the grant.

Starnberger Musiktage:

Since 2000 the violinist Professor Rudens Turku has organized the classical music festival with master classes, concerts, lectures and award ceremonies as well as the Easter Academy.

In the meantime, the Flying Strings has even created its own orchestra. "The most important thing is to connect generations," said Turku on Monday.

"I see it as my duty to pass on what we have learned from the older generation." In the 20 years of existence, numerous talents from Starnberg have found their way into the international world of classical music.

In addition, more than 300 artists have performed in the city, including numerous Grammy and Echo award winners.

Only since 2014 with 5000 euros and since 2018 with 10,000 euros from the city, Turku had now applied for 20,000 euros.

“We have to do something for culture, especially in these times,” said Tim Weidner (SPD) and spoke of “optimal city marketing” at the music days.

At the request of Wobbe, the committee finally agreed on a grant of 17,000 euros.

Only the Greens voted against, they wanted to stay at the original height.

Kultursee:

The most ambitious project was presented by Martina Veh, Sebastian Hess and Professor Peter Leibl - they too are former high school students.

Together with five other comrades-in-arms, they want to establish a cultural festival lasting several days as “kultursee gGmbH” from 2022 on on the lake promenade between Undosa and MRSV.

This year the starting shot should be given: on July 31st with a concert by the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, star cellist Hess and world-class violinist Benjamin Schmid for invited guests, which will be presented to all interested parties on a screen on the promenade on August 1st with free admission .

“We want culture for everyone, nothing elitist, but at a high level,” said Veh.

Incidentally, some of the games are played on Stradivaris with a total value of 10 million euros, said Hess.

There are many people interested in culture in the district who would go to Salzburg and Bregenz, on the other hand, many well-known artists such as Jonas Kaufmann or Anne-Sophie Mutter lived in the district, said Veh.

"Let's save traveling and do it here," she emphasized.

The concept envisages “a symbiosis of music, play of light, adventure space and gastronomy”.

The spectrum should range from baroque to new club music and also include video culture, installations, readings, performances and the like.

"Our long-term goal is a flexible floating stage for Starnberg, which will serve as the basis for a cultural festival with supraregional appeal".

The committee was enthusiastic and unanimously approved the requested 15,000 euros. "That would be a win for all of us," said Tim Weidner - also with a view to Starnberg's application for the State Garden Show 2030. "You have to support that," emphasized Dr. Johannes Glogger (WPS).
