And the frozen lakes in the area are too far away for the children and young people from Hohenfurch, who would like to lace up their skates and turn their turns on the ice - besides, lakes are always dangerous.
In view of the fact that it will not be possible to skate in public places in the future, Markus Kohler from Hohenfurch took the initiative: In the past few days he watered an area of almost 100 square meters on his property on Hohenfurch's main street, where his children and whose friends from the neighborhood can let off steam on two runners to their hearts' content.
Lena, Franzi, Marie, Emmi and Lisa, from one to ten years old, have a lot of fun doing their little rounds there.
"It took several evenings and nights for the ice to become passable," reports Kohler.
"But working in the fresh air was also good for me."
First, he buckled on his skis to trample the snow.
Then it was time to spray.
Up to a week and a half in the evening or at night.
A few liters of water were needed to get a decent ice thickness.
Kohler has no lack of experience in ice making.
“I was helping out ice cream in Hohenfurch over 30 years ago,” he says.
The result justifies all efforts: the ice is eight centimeters thick, even warmer temperatures can no longer harm it.
Ice skating fun is guaranteed for the children and young people for at least a few days.
