Berchtesgaden has been in corona lockdown since October.

The numbers are not falling as hoped, but the district administrator still draws a positive conclusion.

  • Berchtesgaden has been in corona lockdown since October 20.

  • It is the longest lockdown in Germany - and it does not work as hoped.

  • Here you can find the Corona-News from Bavaria.

We also offer you the current case numbers in the Free State in a map.

Berchtesgaden -

Berchtesgaden has been

in Corona * lockdown for

three months

.

It is the longest in all of

Germany

.

But the numbers remain high there despite lockdown *.

Corona in Bavaria: Berchtesgaden was the front runner - and went into lockdown early

In October, the Berchtesgadener Land district had a seven-day incidence * of

252.1, on October 19, 2020 that was a

top value

throughout Germany

.

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder * therefore announced a package of measures “that corresponds to a lockdown.” Public life must be shut down.

"There is no other way," said the

CSU boss

at the time.

From October 20,

exit

restrictions therefore applied

, schools and daycare centers

had to close, and

restaurants

were no longer allowed to open.

Events were also banned - all for two weeks initially.

But immediately afterwards there was a Germany-wide

lockdown

due to high corona * numbers nationwide.

Despite lockdown: Corona numbers in Berchtesgaden are still high

In the meantime, Berchtesgaden has even reached an

incidence

of well over 300. And the numbers are still high when you consider that there has been a lockdown there for three months.

With a value of 181.3 (RKI *, as of January 21, 12 a.m.), the district is currently below the critical value of 200 - but still very far from the targeted 50.

Nobody can really explain why the numbers are not falling more significantly.

Probably some of them just continue to live as they did before the Corona * pandemic.

Others may be negligent when it comes to the masks, suspects District Administrator Bernhard Kern in an interview with

Bayerischer Rundfunk.

There are no

real

hotspots

Three months of lockdown: Understanding among people in the Berchtesgadener Land

How is the mood on site after three months in lockdown?

With all understanding for the measures taken, Bürgerbräu host Christoph Graschberger asks himself whether it would have needed the lockdown in this form.

But

he also said

to the

BR

: “Viewed in isolation, it has not helped the catering trade.

On the other hand, the infection rate is so high that there would probably be hardly any guests if it was open.

In this respect, one can say:

caught up, hung up!

"

Klaus Unterharnscheidt, managing director of the Predigtstuhlbahn, also expresses

understanding

for the

BR

.

Passengers have not been allowed to be transported for three months.

“I would be happy if it could be done faster.

But it's better to be safe and healthy on the mountain than taking too much

risk

.

That doesn't help anyone in the end. "

Three-month lockdown in Berchtesgaden: "Where would we have been if ...?"

Although the incidence is not falling significantly, District Administrator Kern draws a positive balance.

The lockdown was worth it, he thinks.

"Where would we have been if the numbers had gone up even further?"

There are currently around 50 corona patients in the Bad Reichenhall district clinic, five of them in the

intensive care unit

.

However, because emergency care also has to be ensured, patients have been transferred to other hospitals since last week.

And the corona mutation * is already an issue there.

“I assume that we already have them here.

As far as we know, the gradients are no more difficult than the others.

If so, then it is a problem with the number of patients that may come - and that we will need significantly more beds again as a result, ”Chief Physician Christian Geltner told the

BR
