The two rival camps are continuing their dialogue, in particular to designate the holders of several strategic positions.

The goal of the process is to be able to nominate as soon as possible the holders of these strategic positions so that the executive government, which is to be elected next week in Geneva, can “

easily collaborate

” with the new leaders, according to a joint declaration by two parties, gathered since Friday in Bouznika, south of Rabat.

These positions concern the country's highest authorities: governor of the Central Bank, attorney general, presidents of the Administrative Control Authority, the National Authority for the Fight against Corruption, the Libyan High Electoral Commission and the Supreme Court, according to the same source.

Interlibyan political dialogue

Gathered Friday and Saturday in Bouznika in the wake of several meetings organized since September in Morocco, the participants in the "

interlibyan political dialogue

" decided to form small working groups to prepare the application process for these key positions which have long divided the parties. two rival powers, according to the statement.

Once the process is finalized, nominations will be presented to representatives of the eastern-based parliament and the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity (GNA), according to the joint statement read to the press overnight from Friday to Saturday.

The political dialogue organized in Morocco is intended to contribute to the settlement process in Libya, a country plunged into chaos since the fall in 2011 of the regime of Muammar Gaddafi.

Two authorities are vying for power there, against a backdrop of foreign implications: the Government of National Unity (GNA) in Tripoli, recognized by the UN, and a power embodied by Khalifa Haftar, a strong man from the East.

After the failure of the offensive launched by Marshal Haftar in April 2019 to seize Tripoli, the two camps concluded a permanent ceasefire in October 2020 and found the path of dialogue, encouraged by the UN .
