The United Nations Security Council condemned the two suicide terrorist bombings that took place in the center of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, last Thursday, in which dozens of people were killed and wounded.

In a statement posted on its website, the council said that it "condemns in the strongest terms the cowardly terrorist attack in Baghdad," stressing the need to bring those responsible for the double suicide attack to justice.

The Council affirmed its support for the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Iraq, calling on all states in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions to actively cooperate with the government of Iraq and all relevant parties in this regard.
