The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced this Sunday that he has tested positive for covid-19.
The 67-year-old president made it public through a message on his Twitter account.
“The symptoms are mild, but I am already under medical treatment.
As always, I am optimistic.
We will all move forward, "he wrote.
The president, who made a tour of the states of Nuevo León and San Luis Potosí this weekend along with members of the Cabinet and local leaders, has reported that the Secretary of the Interior, Olga Sánchez Cordero, will replace him at the morning press conferences from the National Palace while he is convalescing.
I regret to inform you that I am infected with COVID-19.
The symptoms are mild but I am already under medical treatment.
As always, I am optimistic.
We will all move forward.
