The customs said today (25th) that a folding rubber stool sold by a retailer in Sau Mau Ping failed the load test.
The Customs received a report earlier that an unsafe folding plastic stool was suspected for sale on the market.
Customs officers immediately investigated and purchased the folding rubber stool from a retailer in Sau Mau Ping for safety testing.
After testing by the laboratory, it was found that the product failed the load test, potentially causing the user to fall from the folding plastic stool, and did not comply with the general safety requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Ordinance.
The customs officers subsequently took action and seized a suspected unsafe folding plastic stool of the same type from the retailer and issued a prohibition notice to prohibit them from continuing to sell the product.
The investigation is still ongoing.
In addition to searching the retailer involved, customs officers also conducted inspections in various districts of Hong Kong, and temporarily did not find the product sold.
