An indictment was filed today (Tuesday) against Scott Newman for the murder of his partner Tricia Pointer in Yeruham three weeks ago.

The indictment states that 53-year-old Newman strangled Pointer, his age, despite her attempts to fight him.

He then called police and reported: "I committed a murder."

The prosecution requested that his detention be extended until the end of the proceedings against him.

According to the indictment, on the morning of January 4, the couple was in their apartment in Yeruham.

Pointer prepared breakfast for Newman, and got ready to go to work.

Then a verbal argument broke out between the two, apparently out of jealousy, and while the woman was about to leave - the defendant grabbed her neck and strangled her to cause her death.

Pointer tried to fight Newman, scratched him with her fingernails, grabbed a glass of glass candle in an attempt to stop the defendant and during the fight, the glass shattered on the floor.

The two fell to the floor, while Pointer was injured in the back and hand by the glass shards of the glass.

So, Newman leaned over her and continued to strangle her - until he caused her death.
