Each of us is likely to encounter some obstacles during our lifetime.

Some of us skip them easily, and others stop there.

The truth is that in many cases, a "problem" is perceived as such, because we simply lack the right tools to deal with it.

Personal coaching provides tools and skills that allow us to change our perceptions about problems and challenges and realize aspirations and dreams that sometimes seem unattainable.

Coaching is suitable for women and men who are at a personal or professional crossroads, who have the motivation and energy to make a change and are looking for a "partner" for the journey.

The training process is relatively short, purposeful and goal-oriented, aiming and helping people reach the goals they desire but fail to do on their own.

Meet Yishai Yuval, a personal and professional coach, with nearly 20 years of experience in the field and a glorious past in the education system and high-tech industry.

He came to the world of personal training when he was required to assimilate the basics of personal training in the organization in which he worked, but in the end he fell in love with the field and became a coach himself.

"Thanks to my studies, I was exposed to a lot of different theories about leadership and management. I attended a special business school course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which contributed a lot to my listening ability, which is the main component a good coach needs. "Together with listening abilities, asking sharp questions and reflecting to the trainee what I think I understood from him. These are tools with which I create a strong relationship of reciprocity because the trainee feels heard and a common space is created between us that helps the training process," said Yishai.

Contrary to what you thought

The main principle in coaching is that the work is done by the trainee himself and not by the coach.

Although the coach directs the trainee and leads the process, there is complete reliance on the mental and emotional abilities of the trainee.

"The trainee is the source of authority, knowledge and energy during the training. The coach should not tell him what to do, but lead him to the process according to what he wants to be or according to the goals he has set."

Get to know yourself anew

Every coaching process begins with Yishai's examination of the emotional qualities, ability and degree of desire of each trainee, as these are the key factors that will ensure the success of the process and bring results.

The entire process is dedicated to defining a purposeful goal and building an action plan, in which the trainee clearly specifies what actions need to be taken to get to where he or she wants to be, personally or professionally.

By asking questions, empathizing and reflecting on the trainee's words, he notices a gap between where he is and where he wants to be.

Ostensibly, any person facing a challenge in their life should ask themselves obvious questions.

But for many of us it is difficult to see the big picture when we are experiencing difficulties and are in the midst of a crisis.

Therefore, the role of the coach is to reflect things and put a mirror in front of the trainees.

"I reflect the things I heard from the trainee by repeating the content of his message, in a slightly different way. Once the trainee hears the things he said in a different way, he can internalize them better and come to the right insights that will help him in the process," Yishai explained.

In addition to self-work, the trainee must act on other levels in front of the external environment such as family, colleagues, the organization that works in it and more.

The personal training process

The first sessions in the training process will be devoted to the inward looking of the trainee into himself.

"In the first stage of the process we find out together the strengths of the trainee and emphasize them. Using various tools, the trainee examines in depth abilities he does not recognize or achievements he has achieved in the past and underestimates them. In the next stage, we define the trainee's goal, goal or vision and active actions. Which he must take to advance himself towards the goal.

"All this happens through my conversations, simulations, guidance and instruction, and tasks I give after the session.

Occasionally, there are also difficult and poignant questions that confront the person with himself, his environment and his desires.

Next, we examine together the actions he must take on the way to the goal, the difficulties that were flooded during the coping and preparation for a specific situation he is going to experience.

At the end of the process, we devote time to reflection (reflection and self-observation), with the trainee examining the way he did, the feelings that arose and the most important question - how to preserve the results and continue a new journey, "explained Yishai.
