This Tuesday marked the first anniversary of the death of Kobe Bryant, who died on January 26, 2020 in a tragic helicopter accident that ended his life, that of his daughter Gianna, and seven other people.

The sad date was remembered in various corners of the world.

However, the Los Angeles Lakers, a team with which Bryant won five NBA titles, did not pay any formal tribute in their game this Monday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bryant's family asked the team not to commemorate the former player's death with a public event.

So far that wish is respected by the Lakers.

The Los Angeles team plays this Wednesday in Philadelphia, the city where "Black Mamba" was born, against the 76ers.

But for now, the franchise has only dedicated a tweet to Kobe and Gianna, accompanied by the message "family is forever."

In the preview of Monday's game against Cleveland, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel declared that the date of Kobe's death is not a day to remember.

Vogel said honor dates should be those that mark Bryant's accomplishments, such as the anniversary of the game in which the star scored 81 points.
