A British resident, Captain Dickenson, her eldest son and two daughters suddenly became ill after moving to a new apartment in Fulham, west London in 2017.

For four years the mother and her children suffered from vomiting and diarrhea, and Dickenson herself underwent several tests after experiencing many bowel problems - "The doctors performed six tests on me to understand what I had and what I was suffering from, but to no avail," she said.

The big mystery has been solved from an unexpected place: on January 6, a plumber arrived to make a number of repairs to the family home.

The dedicated professional heard from the occupants of the house about the strange case, and decided to check for himself whether the source of the problem was due to contamination in the water tank in their apartment.

The plumber went up to the roof and miraculously discovered the body of a rotten rodent deep inside the water tank.

"He screamed up there and said he understood why we were sick," the mother said.

Dickenson herself suffers from mobility problems, so she has been able to go up to the roof herself for the past four years, and discover the water that has been polluted and suffered so much.

After the discovery, the local council quickly moved the family to another home, and their apartment underwent a comprehensive inspection of all plumbing and hygiene.

"For years I asked for the loft to be repaired, there was animal noise from it and squirrels and rats entered it. It is not even possible to identify the carcass in the water anymore," Dickenson said.

A spokesman for Fulham City Council apologized for the situation, saying: "We have moved the family to a new apartment and connected them to the city's direct water pipes so that such a case does not happen again. We are constantly reviewing our public housing and renovating and repairing it for the benefit of residents."
